Route Map
Trip Notes
The day started out with an exciting drive past the snow line on the Brandywine Forest Service Road towards the Upper Brandywine Meadows Trailhead. Four wheel drive was necessary to make it up to skiable snow. At about 1200m elevation, we donned our gear for a 6 hour snowshoe adventure on touring skis.
Looking back down the valley towards the trailhead with the iconic Black Tusk beyond. Most of the distance was done on the low angle FSR and valley skin track up towards the valley head below Metal Dome and the Brandywine Glacier.
Given the crusty conditions, we chose to boot up to the col below the glacier and again after traversing past the glacier and up the last 200m to the summit.
Skiing down was a chore as expected, but the conditions delivered a comfortable and beautiful day in the high country.
